About

Our Mission

We use theatre to explore current issues, including environmental degradation, climate change, and other crises that impact both local and global communities. We aim to stage productions in site-specific locations that in and of themselves provide context and meaning to the text and images.

Gretchen E. Minton: author, professor, dramaturg, director

Gretchen, co-founder of MIST, is a Shakespearean English professor by training, a dramaturg by design. Her articulate vision can turn a field of wildflowers and grass into a heath where King Lear can discover the insignificance of humanity.

Minton is involved in “Shakespeare Reloaded”, an Australian University outreach effort aimed to enhance and encourage Shakespearean teaching practices. Follow this link to see more about this project and Minton’s involvement in it: https://shakespearereloaded.edu.au/events/salt-waves-fresh-ecological-adaptation-twelfth-night

Minton won the 2020 Montana Book Award for her book Shakespeare in Montana: Big Sky Country’s Love Affair with the World’s Most Famous Writer. See the press release here.

Ben teaches mythologies, breaths poetry, and incites students to become careful readers and critical thinkers. A genuine modern-day Pied Piper playing literature and magically luring students into a life-long love of learning, drama, literature, and poetry.
